SSAG Student Conference 2018

Bloemfontein, South Africa

4 & 5 October 2018

Geography and Community: Research, Learning, Impact

The Society of South African Geographers (SSAG) was founded in 1994. They have an annual conference and student conference as part of their conference. Their 2018 conference was held in Bloemfontein and I attended the student conference on 4 and 5 October to present my honours research project. The conference also included field trips to the Florisbad Quaternary Research Station, Soetdoring Nature Reserve and the inner city.

As the society is more focused on geography, GIS and remote sensing made up a very small part of the conference. It was interesting to learn more about the physical and human geography, which I is not part of my field of study, except for some first year modules I took on those subjects.
