Strengthening African Machine Learning
The Deep Learning Indaba is an organisation whose mission is to strengthen machine learning and artificial intelligence in Africa. Their first event was held in 2017 in Johannesburg, followed by the second one in Stellenbosch in 2018 - which I attended. The indaba followed a mixed programme ranging from lectures to practicals - even movie screenings of AlphaGo - Google Deepmind's super smart algorithm which plays the board game Go.
I have an interest in machine learning and am very happy to have been able to attend this conference. I have learnt about new tools and algorihms in the field of deep learning at this event.
